It's not such a big deal. I have my own categories, so the groups are basically organized. And I change things up every now and then.

Oh, those slippers are not footwear, but slippers for tapping. This small wine cellar is also perfect for storing Kokeshi dolls. This kind of cross-genre fitting is fun because it's a coincidence.

You see a person lying in this room. This is an overseas security item that is said to be effective against burglary and car burglary.

This room is scary when you are working alone at night. Even children are scared to come into my work room.


ーPlease tell us how you started your career as an artist.

I was an assistant stylist of Keisuke Baba. For about six years. I started when I was a student until 25 years old, that's the time I realized I wasn't good at it.

By the time I was an assistant, my mind had almost completely shifted to art. I have always liked art, and I had been making various things since I was a child.

But I didn't go to art school, so I can't draw well.

But I draw, I do modeling, and I do text art. I do everything. Painters can only paint pictures, but I can and will do anything. I am a unique artist.


ーPlease tell us about your specialty motifs and techniques.

I am good at pen drawings and text art. I just write whatever comes to my mind. I think I am quick to create, and it doesn't take me long.

There are deadlines for exhibiting my work in solo shows, but I have never failed to meet them. On the contrary, I have more than enough time. Homework during summer vacation is different. I am the type of person who does it all at once at the end of the day.

I think it matches the philosophy of MANASTASH, but I also do a lot of recycled works, and I often create works with motifs of things I found or bought on Mercari(a flea market app).


ーPlease tell us about the image of the design you collaborated on this time.


When I think of MANASTASH, the first thing that comes to mind is hemp. I drew the character using hemp leaves as a motif.

I rarely draw pictures of plants, so this may be a bit rare.

The brand logo is "MANA~" of "MANASTASH", which is an abbreviation of the brand name and the mountain motif used in the logo.



ーHave you ever heard of "MANASTASH"? If so, what did you think of it?

Of course, I knew about it when I was a stylist. At the time, I had the image of senior staff with dreadlocks wearing it.

I was aware that there were a lot of hemp materials and natural coloring.


ーWhat are your future plans?

I think it would be interesting to design parks. I would like to come up with a design that would raise children's spirits.

I have a negative image of parks, like an evening when office workers are sitting on a swing in the park drinking canned coffee after being fired.

Well, I am a bit biased, but I would like to work on a design that makes both adults and children happy, rather than that kind of image.

I know it is difficult since it is a government project, but if there is any chance to do something, I would like to do it. I would like to do something I have never done before, not only in parks.
